Patriotic Poetry
Every October since 2003, members of Charles W. Canney Camp #5, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and Company A, 12th New Hampshire Infantry take over the ridge in New Durham, NH for their annual Civil War Encampment. In the past, they have featured, an enlistment station, a medical tent, and a chaplain, complete with a Sunday morning service.
Most recently, the camp has been a Provost Marshall post protecting the local train depot and powder mill.
This is the poem that I wrote about sitting alone by the fire in the dark hours of the morning.
This is another poem that was inspired by Civil War Living History experiences combined with my respect for what those men went through.
I wrote this poem shortly after the September 11th attacks. That day touched my heart and my patriotism. I was in The Netherlands during the attack and was stranded away from my family for days.
We owe so much to those that sacrificed so much
I wrote this poem while visiting the Gettysburg battlefield in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
